Try swimming this summer for exercise. Swimming and other exercises you can do in the pool can work your arms, legs, back, and stomach. It is a refreshing and great way to exercise whether you do it in an indoor or outdoor pool. Remember, if you are outside to wear sun screen! If you are someone who usually runs for exercise, for example, you may at times get bored with your routine. If you try swimming and other exercises in the pool for a change, you will work out more muscles than you do running and it will give you something new to do and hopefully it will peak your interest. If you are not interested in swimming, try another form of exercise that will bring added results to your body's fitness.

I learned something new today...you can get exercise-induced asthma. I know people who were born with asthma, but I never knew that people could get asthma from cardio workouts. I guess it is a pretty serious thing and according to the American Council on Exercise...90% of asthmetics are affected by this. If you scroll down on the page it lists sypmtoms of this asthma and what you should do if you have it and you wish to exercise.

Ok, so summer is coming and part of being healthy is protecting your skin. I know many of you like to go to tanning salons and/or tan in the sum, but we should really take better care of our skin. I know this middle-aged woman who has a tanning bed and therefore she tans all the time and over the last year I have noticed that she looks like she is 65 years old. Too much sun not only cause tons of wrinkles when we are older, but it also causes skin cancer...i know a lot of us think "oh well...it won't happen to me" but I know a young person who has skin cancer and it is scary. I am not saying we should avoid the sun...but we should know when enough is enough. I found this site that sells sun protection clothing...which I found might be helpful for people who forget to put on their sunscreen...or for those who just prefer not to use any.

Bad carbs vs. good carbs...supposedly you can lose weight by switching the type of carbs you eat instead of having to give them up all together. I guess if they say it is true...but I think the best way to lose weight is to eat a well balanced diet (with exercise, of course). It's not really necessary to cut out any food from your diet completely...just eat some foods sparingly.

There is also some hype about nutrition bars. I don't personally eat them because I think they are gross, but i guess if you search out the healthy ones, they make good meals or snacks. I know people are busy nowadays, but I just don't think you should supplement a "nutrition" bar for a meal. If we can't find time to sit down and eat lunch...its a wonder that many people don't have time to exercise.

If you are feeling kind of sluggish all of the time and therefore you don't feel like you can exercise...maybe your body is lacking the amount of iron it needs. Iron is an important nutrient our bodies need to function. But before you take extra doses of iron on a daily basis...make sure that is the reason behind your sluggishness.

For those of you who feel like you are eating the same food all the time because you aren't aware of very many healthy recipes, here is a recipe that I have actually tried and it is delicious...if you like all of the ingredients, of course. Give it a try. Sometimes we feel like we can't possibly stay on the diets we are on because we are eating the same food over and over again. Get online and search for healthy recipes...you will be surprised at the amount of them you can find...and even get for free!

Want a bikini worthy stomach this summer? Try doing some of these ab workouts. They do not require any fancy machinery that you buy on tv and they actually work if you do them correctly. Here are some exercises for hips, butt, and thighs too. No one is built the same and so it ends up that some of us have flat stomachs and big butts, while others of us have not-so-flat stomachs and a tiny butt. If we zone in on our problem area(s) then we have a better chance of toning down...the secret is we just need to find the right exercises to do. Not every exercise works for everyone.

Are you on a low fat diet and feel like you aren't losing any more weight right now? Sometimes the food we eat that is lower in fat is higher in calories. If we do not get the proper exercise, those extra calories can add up and actually hinder us from losing weight. The way I look at it, the lower the fat, the lower the calories should be...to bad that isn't always the case. Another thing that I find hard...eating out at a restaurant and being able to find a healthy meal. Here are some tips for those of us who want to eat out sometimes and still be able to lose weight. As long as we are not eating out every night, even a few extra calories shouldn't make us gain back weight in just one night of splurging. Once in a while it is ok to enjoy yourself as long as you get back to your normal diet the next day!
