For those of us who want to exercise to lose weight and to maintain our fitness...but don't know what exercises work the best for different muscles and body parts...hire a personal trainer. I guess now even people who are not rich can afford a personal trainer for a short time period because the trainer is suppose to teach you what to do and then you are left to do it on your own after so many sessions. I think this is great because there are so many of us that are not sure what exercises are great for losing weight, muscle building and heart rate control. What I also think is great is that now more employers are offering employees a fitness center at work. It is often more convenient for people to go to the gym if it is right there at work rather than having to drive 15 minutes to the nearest gym, exercise, and then drive all the way home. The only thing that beats this is having the exercise equipment right at home!

If you are one of those people who just can't motivate yourself to use an exercise machine 4 or 5 times a week...there are exercises you can do on a daily basis that don't require much sweating. I guess if you do these exercises on a daily basis you will notice a difference before you even know it and you don't have to dread working up a sweat. Even just walking a little extra everyday can make a difference. It can even make a difference in your cholesterol level and blood circulation. Most people think exercising is done just to lose weight...but it should be done to maintain health.

I found this health assessment quiz on yahoo...so I tried it. If you answer honestly, then you will get an assessment of your health that I would say is fairly accurate. It even offers advice as to what you should be concerned about or what health exams or tests you should take. It even allows you to save the information so that you can use it as a reference in the future if you so choose. One question in the quiz asks you how much physical activity you are involved in each week. Regular physical activity is an important factor in determining a person's health...so step away from the computer and go for a walk!

What is the deal with the Atkins Diet? I know three people who swear by this diet, but I personally do not think it is the healthiest way to lose weight. Some people think that carbohydrates are the enemy, but carbohydrates are present even in fruits and vegetables, which are healthy for us. I guess perhaps if you go on the Atkins diet to lose weight and you don't stay on the diet like some people do, you should be ok. I am just weary of weight loss diets that cut out fruits and vegies.

Yoga exercisces are used to develop your body, mind and soul. I have never personally tried Yoga, but I have heard that it is a great way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. There are also vegetarian recipies for those who really want to use yoga as a way to stay healthy. Maybe if I am motivated after I graduate in May, I will try it!
